What is your job title and what does your job involve?
My job title is Payroll Manager. My main job is to deal with new clients who are coming on to use the
Payroll Bureau. This involves inputting their current payroll information onto our system, reconciling all
the year to date info and making sure their transition onto the Fourth system is smooth.
I also look after the Payroll team, train non-bureau clients on how to use the fourth payroll module and
deal with my client list on a weekly basis
What do you love / like about your job and what makes you do it?
I like the interaction with clients and problem solving. All the hard work is worth it when the client is
happy with the service!
What does your average day consist of? e.g.
When do you start?
Do you have a routine?
What time do you leave?
There really is no average day in my job. I like to come in early and get emails sent out and replied to
before the phones start ringing! If I am working in the bureau I will get all my day to day stuff done and
then start work on the new clients we have coming onto the bureau. Normally this involves making sure I
have all the information I need, checking that our system information matches that of the clients existing
system, speaking with the new client to see how they want to work and ironing out any issues which come up!
Each week there are internal meetings or training courses to attend as well.
My routine depends upon the level of new business we have coming onto the bureau at the time, if we have a
big client coming on everything has to be juggled about to fit it all in!
What are the highlights / lowlights of your day?
Highlights are when clients are happy with the bureau and our service, lowlights can be dealing with
problems which crop up!
What is it like working here?
Very busy but worth it in the end!
Exciting events of the week - work or non work related?
- Fingers crossed being able to leave on time on Friday!
- Management training courses
- Going shopping at the Trafford Centre.

What is your job title and what does your job involve?
My main job is a Trainer, however, my job involves some project management, as well as providing support,
writing specs for new developments and testing them when they come back from development.
What do you love / like about your job and what makes you do it?
I love the interaction and meeting new people with each training session, I also get to travel around the
country a bit and have stayed in some plush hotels.
What does your average day consist of? e.g.
When do you start?
Do you have a routine?
What time do you leave?
There is no average day in my job. If I am training I need to be at the venue at least 30mins before
kicking off, set up the room, and make sure the systems are working. Meet the delegates, and take them
through the course depending upon their position in the company training can be anywhere from a couple of
hours to a full day and I train on 2 of our systems so it means making sure I have the necessary
information for them. Take a lunch break, generally in the office and reply to emails or make calls to
clients that haven't been able to get hold of me. Then it's down to training again, or helping out on the
support desk. Each week there are meetings to attend either with clients or internal catch ups…
There is no routine, out of the office probably half of the month or, if we have a big training request on
then the whole month.
What are the highlights / lowlights of your day?
Highlights are getting satisfaction when our clients understand the system, lowlights can be when things
just don't go as expected.
What is it like working here?
Hectic!
Exciting events of the week - work or non work related?
- Party for Pizza Express as we have completed their roleout
- Meeting with Morgans Hotel group to discuss our training module
- Flying to Inverness to train a new hotel.

What is your job title and what does your job involve?
I am a Project Manager at Fourth and am primarily concerned with the implementation of our Employee Management System. My involvement in each project ranges from sales handover to project sign-off meetings, with on-going client relationship management and fully understanding each clients goals, project focus and the way in which they work, ultimately to deliver their perfect solution.
What do you love / like about your job and what makes you do it?
I love understanding and shaping each unique project to meet our multi-focused clients' needs with tangible results and time savings that really make a difference. With such wide-ranging customers, this job provides me with an in-depth insight into the hospitality industry and adapting and learning from one to the next enables me to understand what works best for our new clients. The project completion parties aren't usually too bad either!
What does your average day consist of?
e.g. when do you start?
Do you have a routine?
What time do you leave?
Managing a number of projects at different stages of their life cycle essentially means that I could be doing any combination of jobs in a typical day. These can range from sales handover meetings, delivering training sessions, on-going project management and updating our customers where required. Fitting it all in some days can be challenging but with the diversity between individual jobs the time flies. . . .
What are the highlights / lowlights of your day?
The highlights are ticking the completed boxes on my various project plans, clearing my inbox and the occasional bit of office banter with team. Low points . . . some of the banter with the team . . . especially Paul Watson.
What is it like working here?
Fourth is a great place to work. There's a great team spirit and you can always rely on, and trust the people you are working with, which means that even in the face of advertsity we can always come out on top. There's plenty going on in and out of the office and being in the hospitality industry we're clearly obliged to sample the market that we work in. . It's a hard job but someone's got to do it!
Exciting events of the week - work or non work related?
Going back to my roots in Liverpool for a new customer project meeting and then to Manchester for some clients visits. . . .a good opportunity to catch up with some of the boys, and potentially some of the girls!
Wednesday night football in St James Park with office regulars is always great fun. . Skinning Gary Loftus is probably the highlight of all our weeks!! A few beers afterwards always goes down a treat too. . . . . . .

What is your job title and what does your job involve?
My job title is Web Developer and I have recently been given the role of Database Architect for the new GHS .Net project, which would soon take over the current EMS & FnB systems.
My job involves analysing and resolving critical customer system issues. I mainly specialise in performance and optimisation. Analysing timeout issues on the live system and making sure the end user can use our system smoothly without any hiccups or technical hindrances.
What do you love / like about your job and what makes you do it?
I have always enjoyed working with Microsoft technologies & database systems (SQL server), and have been lucky to be in charge of all database changes to our system.
I enjoy the challenge of wracking my brains trying to figure out the causes of critical issues or the so called "Vampire issues" and resolving them. I'm also involved in designing and developing new product functionality/features.
I'm motivated by the amazing feeling at the end of the work day when I know I've made a contribution to improving our system and improving the end user experience.
What does your average day consist of?
e.g. When do you start?
Do you have a routine?
What time do you leave?
My day consists of first looking at the early morning "SALESFORCE" screen, the best tool for Support guys and the most dreaded tool for developers, because every time we close a DevTask another one appears in our list. I wonder who adds them in there !!
I start at around 9am and try to leave around 6pm. But whenever my boss sees me leaving he tells me "have the rest of the day off", and Frikki asks me, "where do you think you are going?", Well 'Hello' isn't it obvious, I'm going home as it's the end of the day ;-)
I don't have a set routine as every day has it's own share of challenges and being in a Customer Support environment you never know what to expect. So everyday is brand new day for a software developer and can get hectic at times.
What are the highlights / lowlights of your day?
The highlights are not having any major customer complaints throughout the day. And the lowlights are unresolved critical bugs at the end of the day, because you know it's one unhappy day for the Customer.
What is it like working here?
The working environment at Fourth is great. There's so much life and everyone is unique and has something special to contribute. People are very friendly and approachable. There are no barriers between Managers or employees. All are treated equally and given importance.
Fourth has a multi-cultural team of employees which creates lively debate and banter when it comes to supporting our sporting nations. When India & England play against each other in the Cricket, and India win! I have a lot to brag about... but if England win, (which is lately becoming more common) I just have to keep my mouth shut and pretend I'm deaf.
Exciting events of the week - work or non work related?
Work related:- the most recent major task of mine was the complete overhaul of the Time & Attendance in EMS which is now live. It has proved a success. This feature automatically logs employees' clockin/clockout details to the daily Rota in EMS and allows managers to manage their employees' work-times more accurately.
Meetings with the new .Net team, planning the roadmap for the new project and also given a chance to do some R&D and analysis of latest Microsoft products & technologies.
